Denison Police swears in second female officer

DENISON, TX -- Denison Police recently sworn in a new officer after graduating the police academy last month.

Officials say Officer Holly Jenkins was hired back in November, and is now going through the Denison Police Department Field Training Program that lasts for 17 weeks.

Jenkins is the second female officer to work with Denison Police.

She is a military veteran and has a law enforcement background as a former Missouri deputy and police officer.

She says she is excited to begin her career in Denison.

"The guys have been really accepting and really supportive so I feel like I've gained a whole family of brothers, so I think it's great," Jenkins said.

Jenkins says having family in the area is the reason she wanted to work for Denison.
