DENISON, TX -- A Denison man was sentenced Thursday for his role in the death of a woman in a car-surfing accident last summer.

Grayson County District Attorney Joe Brown says 39-year-old Eric Pendleton has been sentenced to 45 years for his 7th driving while intoxicated conviction and another 30 years for intoxication manslaughter after reaching a plea agreement Thursday.

Last July 43-year-old Betty Ann Roebison died from injuries sustained when she fell from atop a car Pendleton was driving through Denison.

He later admitted to police they both had been drinking and that he was driving when she climbed through the sun roof from the passenger seat onto the top of the car.

At the time of the accident Pendleton's blood alcohol content was .244 and he was on parole for a felony DWI offense.

Pendleton will be eligible for parole after 15 years.
