Denison to charge fee for 'false alarm' responses

DENISON, TX -- Businesses and residents will now have to register their monitored alarm systems.

The council passed the ordinance at last night's council meeting.

Under the ordinance, alarm holders have 90 days to register current alarm systems and 45 days to register new alarms.

The city will also charge a $100 fee if officers have to respond to a false alarm.

But the city says alarm holders are allowed four false alarm responses a year. They'll start charging with the fifth time officers are called to a false alarm.

The city said there's no charge to register alarm systems.
