DENISON, TX -- Denison City leaders have announced a plan to spruce up downtown and bring in new business.

The Denison Development Program has distributed more than $100,000 dollars to dozens of Main Street businesses to help restore their outside appearance and attract more customers.

One business that received money from the "Facade Grant Program" is the Rialto Theater.

It's re-opening next week and the money they received helped to restore the theater's historical marquis.

In the last 15 months at least 30 new stores have set up shop in downtown Denison increasing the occupancy rate to 80 percent.
