OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows drought and abnormally dry conditions have spread throughout Oklahoma.
The report released Thursday shows half of the state with abnormally dry conditions. The remainder of the state is in drought that ranges from moderate to exceptional - the most severe condition.
Extreme and exceptional drought conditions are reported in far southwestern Oklahoma and extreme drought is reported in most of the state's Panhandle.
Moderate to severe drought cuts a swath from northwestern Oklahoma southward, then eastward across southern Oklahoma.
The Drought Monitor report one week ago showed 26 percent of the state with no drought or abnormally dry conditions.
