Drunk driver crashes into Red River Co. home

RED RIVER COUNTY, TX-- Troopers say a drunk driver crashed into a home just past the Red River County line Tuesday night, sending two people to the hospital.

Around 10:45 a truck, driven by Lindsay Kelley of Deport, was heading west on Clarksdale, at a high rate of speed, when she left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Troopers say she then drove through two yards before crashing into the side of a home.

"When it left the roadway I could hear I guess gravel kicking up under it or something, I don't know it's just a different sound," said Deport resident Marilyn Glover.

Kelley had to be extricated from the truck. She was taken by helicopter to Medical Center of Plano.

Her passenger, Michael Gresham of Sulphur Springs, was taken by ambulance to PRMC. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries. Troopers say the driver will be charged with DWI.

"According to the trooper observing the scene, he came to the conclusion the driver had been drinking and he was able to do one of the field sobriety tests at that point," said Trooper Sylvia Jennings.

The homeowner was not injured. He's staying at the local Red Cross until utilities can be restored to the house.
