Durant home goes up in flames

DURANT, OK -- A Durant man is without a home tonight after a fire destroyed it.

Durant firefighters arrived this afternoon at the home on the corner of Southeast First Street and Mississippi.

Firefighters say the residence was engulfed in flames when they got there. No one was home at the time.

Firefighters were able to put out the blaze quickly.

"We had three trucks arrive. Flames were showing out the windows so the guys went in did an initial attack on it, brought the house fire under control fairly quick," fire Chief Roger Joines said.

It's unknown what caused the fire. Firefighters are still investigating.
