DURANT, OK - A Durant man has died after an accident on U.S. Highway 70 Tuesday night.

OHP says around 6 o'clock Tuesday evening 30-year-old Samuel Cruz was putting items on the back of a trailer about a quarter of a mile east of Durant when a truck driven by an 82-year-old Durant man hit the trailer, pinning Cruz between the truck and the trailer.

Cruz suffered massive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 82-year-old driver was taken to the hospital, but has since been released.

According to troopers, the trailer was improperly parked on the highway and was not using tail lights.
