Durant police investigating attempted robbery

DURANT, OK -- Quick thinking by a Durant clothing store employee helped avoid a robbery.

Around 10 a.m., Tuesday morning, police were called to Rue 21 on Main Street after an employee claimed a man threatened him with a weapon.

The employee was backing out of a parking spot with the stores deposit for the bank. When a male subject approached the door, pointed at the money bag, and had his left hand in his jacket pocket like he was holding a weapon.

When the employee put the vehicle in reverse, the suspect fled the scene.

Employee Tyler Ash said, "He ran down the alleyway, and then I realized quickly after that he had slashed my tires to try and get me to stay so it was a crazy morning for sure."

Police are still investigating.
