"Early College High School" possible for Bonham

BONHAM, TX -- By next year Bonham students may be able to graduate with more than just a high school diploma.

Superintendent Dr. Marvin Beaty says this week he will be talking with Grayson County College officials about providing high school students with online college courses. Dr. Beaty says if everything pans out in 2014 students could be graduating with both a diploma and an associates degree.

"So it is saving our taxpayers and our parents and kids tons of money. It also makes some money on the back end given the fact that if you finish college two years earlier. Think of the wages that you're making that you otherwise would not make." Dr. Beaty said.

Dr. Beaty says the program would cost parents just a fraction of what they would pay at a university.
