Eureka Springs Passion Play averts foreclosure

EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - The Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs has raised the $75,000 it needed to avoid foreclosure and organizers say the performances will resume.

The Gospel Station Network of Ada, Okla., was able to raise the money for an interest payment and keep Cornerstone Bank from taking possession of the property.

In October, operators at the site turned off the floodlights on the Christ of the Ozarks statue and sold off the play's livestock. Donors last month paid the site's electric bill and got the lights turned back on for the statue.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (http://is.gd/rU9q9X ) that backers plan to raise $6 million in the next 12 months to keep the play running.
