OKLAHOMA -- The FBI is warning Oklahoma residents about a fraudulent phone and email scam targeting utility customers.
Customers are receiving calls from people claiming to be with a utility company billing department. Agents say a caller tells customers that they have a past due balance and that if they do not provide credit card or banking information their service will be stopped. In emails, customers have been instructed to click on a link to pay a past due bill.
The FBI says people who receive suspicious phone calls or emails should contact their service provider.
