Fallen officers remembered in Paris

PARIS, TX-- Local law enforcement agencies came together Thursday night, to honor their fallen brothers.

Residents and local law enforcement gathered at East Paris Baptist Church to remember the 10 local officers who have lost their lives in Paris and Lamar County.

The most recent Paris Police Officer David Roberts in 1985.

Paris Police Chief, Bob Hundley, says officers know the risks they take to protect the community.

"We never know what criminal act is going to take place or how it's going to take place," said Hundley. "But the certainty is everyone that has badge on will do everything they can to protect you."

At the service, they also remembered officers across the country who lost their lives last year, and the lives lost already this year.

District Attorney Gary Young was the event's guest speaker.
