Family offers $100,000 reward in Chanda Turner case

PAULS VALLEY, OK - Twelve years ago, Chanda Turner was found with a gunshot wound to the chest outside the Pauls Valley home she shared with her boyfriend. Now, her family is issuing a plea for help.

The medical examiner's office originally ruled Turner's death a suicide, but her family insisted their daughter would never have done something like that.

"We had to change the law in order to get her death certificate changed," her father Joe Turner said. "We had the evidence but no one would look at it with open eyes."

Turner's cause of death was recently changed to unknown allowing Gavin County Sheriff Larry Rhodes to crack open the twelve-year-old case.

"I know there are persons out there in this community today that have information relevant to this case," Rhodes said.

Turner's family announced they are offering a $100,000 reward for information that leading to the arrest and prosecution of whoever is responsible for their daughter's death.

"The circumstances of this death was certainly suspicious," the family's attorney Jaye Mendros said. "We know what this was. We know there are people out there who have information."

Rhodes would not go into detail about the murder investigation but did join the family in their plea of asking anyone with information on Turner's death to come forward.
