Fannin Co. remembers 3 local soldiers

FANNIN COUNTY, TX -- Three local soldiers, who gave the ultimate sacrifice, were remembered in Fannin County Monday morning.

Fannin County Judge Spanky Carter said, "We don't ever want to forget about these individuals. They gave everything for their country, and their from this county, so we just wanted to show our appreciation."

County commissioners approved proclamations honoring Private First Class Christian Jake Chandler, Staff Sergeant Michael Allen Shank and Sergeant First Class Miguel Antonio Wilson.

Wilson was killed in 2008 in Iraq when he drowned trying to rescue another soldier, Shank was killed by an IED that exploded near his vehicle in Afghanistan in 2006, and Chandler was killed in action on April 28th of 2014 when his unit came under attack.
