Fire destroys a Luella family's home

LUELLA, TX -- Firefighters fought a blaze in Luella for more than two hours Thursday night.

Around 6 p.m., five fire departments arrived to see this home on the 1100 block of Harrell Road completely engulfed in flames.

The home is a total loss. No one was home at the time, but the family's pets were inside and have not been found. The cause is under investigation.

Fire officials say because the home is out in the county, getting water to it was difficult.

"The only difficult part about this fire is that it's out in the county, way out between two fire districts, between Howe and Tom Bean. Unfortunately, you know, that's how it happens. It's usually the ones that are further out," Howe Fire Chief Robert Maniet said.
