LEONARD, TX -- Multiple Fannin County fire departments responded to a house fire in Leonard Sunday.
Leonard Fire says around 1:30 p.m. a home in the 700 block of North Connett St. caught fire. When they arrived the entire back half of the two-story home was engulfed in flames. We are told the house was vacant and nobody was injured. Firefighters say wind was a concern when battling the flames.
"We were really worried about the other houses surrounding the house catching fire so at some point we just had to say protect the exposures to the other houses and make sure they didn't catch fire," Leonard Firefighter Billy Martin said.
Residents say the house had been there for at least 100 years.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
