Fireworks store donating a portion of profits to Sherman High School Band

SHERMAN, TX - the Sherman high school band is getting a helping hand from an area fireworks store.

About 100 band members will work at the Fireworks World store in Sherman for the next ten days. In return they'll get a portion of all the profits. They'll be responsible for staffing, stocking, and informing customers about the different products. Band director Ryan Jenkins says with budgets being tight due to cuts this opportunity couldn't have come at a better time.

"The chances were minimal, but we were very excited to get the news," said Jenkins. "We jumped right on it. It was something that kind of fell in our laps when Jim called and it's just something that you can't pass up."

Jenkins says all the money raised will be used to help band members on an individual basis.
