Five injured in Collin County crash

COLLIN COUNTY, TX -- Five people are in the hospital after a two-vehicle accident near the Grayson County line Monday night.

The Blue Ridge Fire Department's Bonnie Bowers says a car and truck crashed at the 121 and 160 intersection in Desert, Texas. It happened around 6:30. Bowers says two people were air lifted in critical condition and three others were taken to the hospital by ambulance -- their conditions are unknown at this time. The names and identities of the victims have not been released.

Area Residents we spoke with say this is a dangerous intersection.

"We have had some major accidents in this intersection. Since the light has gone up it's decreased, but they do happen here," Bowers said.

"Basically since they put up the lights it's been down to a minimum yea, but still pretty bad. At least one a week," Rick Breese, a nearby resident, said.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident.
The Blue Ridge and Whitewright Fire Departments and the Collin County Sheriff's Office all responded.
