STONE COUNTY, MS - A former southern Oklahoma State Senator has been arrested in Mississippi accused of embezzling taxpayer money.
50-year-old Jay Paul Gumm was arrested Friday in Stone County, Mississippi, where he headed the county's economic development partnership. Gumm is accused of embezzling $24,000 from his employer. He allegedly put $11,000 into his personal checking account.
The Durant native and SOSU alum served as the Oklahoma Senator for District 6 from 2002 until 2010, when he was beat out by Republican challenger Josh Brecheen.
