GAINESVILLE, TX - The Frank Buck Zoo in Gainesville welcomed some new friends today.
The zoo opened a new alligator exhibit this morning.
Frank Buck Zoo is now home to four-american alligators. The alligators can grow up to 9 feet long and live up to 50 years.
The exhibit has been in the works for several years.
Zoo Director, Susan Kleven said the alligators should feel right at home.
"Texas takes their alligators very seriously. They're one of the most regulated animals that Texas Parks and Wildlife oversees. The animals that came to us have all been confiscated from people who tried to keep them as pets. Not a good idea. They were being held at other facilities," said Kleven.
Kleven said the zoo is thrilled about the new exhibit.
