Gainesville ISD employee flown to hospital after being hit by a car

GAINESVILLE, TX -- Police say a Gainesville ISD employee was seriously hurt after he was hit by a vehicle Sunday.

Officers say 39-year-old Jody Smith, a custodian for the school district, was struck on Harris Street.

It happened Just east of Wine Street around 11 AM Sunday morning.

Smith was taken to a Denton hospital.

Police say the driver who hit Smith fled the scene and they have identified the suspect.
