Gainesville man indicted for murder

COOKE COUNTY, TX -- The Cooke County District Attorney say a Gainesville man has been indicted by a Grand Jury on 1st Degree Murder charges in a deadly stabbing.

43-year-old Victor Martinez was arrested in early May after turning himself into authorities.

He's accused of stabbing 34-year-old Johnny Tarrell Smith of Denton in the 700 block of Harvey Street.

Smith was air-lifted to a Plano hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Martinez' arraignment is set for September 5th.
