GAINESVILLE, TX -- The summer heat has kicked in, but for Gainesville residents looking to cool off in the city pool you'll have to wait a few more weeks.
Construction on the new $2.3 million pool at Leonard Park began back in January, and was supposed to be complete by June 1st.
But as you can see, it's still a work in progress. Parks director Patrick McCage says this year's inclement weather delayed the project.
"We're not jumping the gun. We're planning for the opening for the first week of July and hopefully we hit those dates. We should," McCage said.
The new pool replaces what was a 65 year old city pool facility. It will have two water slides, a rock climbing wall and a diving board. As well as a kidde pool, splash bucket area and a lounge area for adults.
