Gainesville a finalist for "Most Patriotic" city

GAINESVILLE, TX-Gainesville is on the map as one of the country's most patriotic cities.
Gainesville is one of the finalists for Rand McNally's “Best of Road" contest competing with five other cities for the title: "Most Patriotic."
Chamber of Commerce representative, Mandy Davis said the city holds many events honoring veterans and those on active duty; like the Medal of Honor parade, as well as Veterans' day events.

"Patriotism is just what we do here in Gainesville. It's just who we are and it's the fabric of this community. We recognize that our freedom was bought with a price and we don't take that for granted," she said.

Davis said if Gainesville wins, the city will be featured in Rand McNally's atlas and be marked as a place of interest.
