EDMOND, Okla. (AP) - Forty new Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are set to graduate this week from a training academy.
Graduation and commissioning ceremonies are planned for Thursday for the new graduates of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy. The ceremony is set for 1 p.m. at the Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond.
The Department of Public Safety says five female cadets will graduate Thursday, bringing the total number of female state troopers to 20.
The graduates will next undergo three months of field training with a senior trooper.
Eight of the new graduates are military veterans, while others have work experience in landscaping and pipe fitting. The new graduates range in age from 23 to 35.
