Grayson County DA approved to request state funding

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX - The Grayson County District Attorney's Office says they're in need of more funding to fight domestic violence.

County commissioners have agreed to allow the DA's office to request $30,000 dollars from the governor's office, Criminal Justice Division, and Violence Against Women Act.

Commissioners say they would price match that with another $30,000.

Mona Robnett oversees Victim Services for the county and says prosecutors use those funds to build their domestic violence cases.

Robnett says they've received this grant money for the last 12 years but recently that funding has been dwindling. According to Robnett, "They changed up our funding last year and it's a 30 percent cash match grant and we are over 50 percent cash match right now."

The funds would apply for the 2014 fiscal year.
