Grayson County sex offender sentenced to life

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- A Sherman man convicted of child sex crimes over ten years ago, was sentenced to life in prison this week for another sex crime.

37-year-old, Kenneth Ray Purtell, Jr. pled guilty and was sentenced for aggravated sexual assault of a child on Wednesday.

Authorities say In March, an eight-year-old relative of Purtell told her councilor that he had been abusing her.

They say he was a registered sex offender from a similar crime in 1994 in Tarrant County.

He will be eligible for parole in 30 years.
