Sherman council approves Grayson Co. Appraisal District move

SHERMAN, TEXAS -- The Grayson County Appraisal District could soon be on the move.

A vote to re-locate the Appraisal District closer to downtown Sherman needs one more "yes" to pass. Appraisal District officials say 23 local entities have voted yes, two against and six have yet to cast votes. Sherman is the latest to approve the move. Sherman Mayor Bill Magers says the Appraisal District needs to move and it's a plus that it could move to an existing building.

"It's a low cost solution, about half the cost of building new. Has ample parking with 80 spaces throughout. Overall, it's going to keep the Appraisal District in downtown Sherman for years to come," Mayor Magers said.

If the vote passes, the Appraisal District would move from the 200 block of North Travis St. to the 600 block.
