Grayson County gears up for Relay for Life

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- Grayson County is gearing up for the fight against cancer.

The annual Relay for Life takes place May 18, 2012, at the Denison High School track.

Relay for Life is the main fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, and it's the largest one in the world.

66 teams have already signed up and raised just over $ 90,000.

The main goal is to raise money for cancer research and cancer patients, but also to celebrate the lives of survivors.

"Every dollar goes directly to the ACS to help fund all of the research and all of the programs... We have about 1200 participants that are out there just trying to raise as much money as possible in the weeks leading up to the event," said Mary Linder, Grayson County Relay for Life Event Chair.

You can sign up until the relay kicks off at 7 pm.

This year's theme is "Happily Ever After"
