GUNTER, TX -- A Gunter High School student is in the hospital following a one-vehicle rollover crash Sunday afternoon.

Police say the 17-year-old lost an arm when the vehicle she was driving flipped at FM 121 and Block Road in Gunter. She was air lifted to a Dallas area hospital where officers say she has undergone surgery. Her name is not being released.

Gunter Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

"What it appears is as if she was going to cross the center median, realized that, went to correct, over corrected, locked up her brakes, hit head on into a tree flipped it and rolled it back out onto the roadway," Gunter Police Chief Bryce Kennedy said.

Van Alsyne EMS and the Gunter Fire Department also responded to the crash.
