PARIS, TX-- Some Paris firefighters will soon see an increase in their paychecks.
The city council unanimously voted to increase the pay of firefighters who are on the hazmat and dive team, or both.
Each firefighter will see almost a 40 dollar increase on each paycheck, as long as they are on the team. Those who are on both will see just over 60 dollars each pay period.
The Paris Fire Department recently purchased a boat through a grant from the Council of Governments.
"In the last year I have been able to secure approximately $100,000 from the COG to outfit the dive team, and enhance our hazmat team," said Paris Fire Chief Larry Wright.
The firefighters increase will go into effect on July 1st.
