HEALDTON, OK - The Healdton city treasurer has been placed on paid leave amidst an investigation in the city's finances.
Healdton City Manager Louis Smitherman said Karen Kardaleff has been relieved of her duties as city treasurer.
Kardaleff has been employeed by the city for eleven years.
Smitherman confirmed there have been discrepancies in the city's finances, but would not comment as to how much money was missing or whether Kardaleff or any other city employees are the subject of the investigation.
He said Kardaleff's suspension is only to protect her and the organization.
No word on when the investigation will be complete.
