Denison home shot 11 times in New Year's Eve drive-by

DENISON, TX-A Denison woman said she's terrified after someone fired several gunshots into her house on New Year's Eve.

Eleven bullet holes cover Billie Kirk's home in the 500 block of Monterey street after a man allegedly shot her house New Year's Eve. Kirk said she's concerned for her safety and the rest of the neighborhood now that the suspect was released.

Denison police arrested Michael Warren Cox of Sherman for "deadly conduct-discharging firearm," a 3rd degree felony after police said he shot Kirk's home. Kirk said, Cox started firing the gun after a big fight with her niece Monday night, then she chased him off and called police.

Denison police Lt. Mike Eppler said they found Cox early Tuesday morning at a local night club, where he was arrested. Investigators said Cox was released from the Grayson County Jail on a $6,500 bond, awaiting his court date.

"I don't think it's right, I think he should still be in there. I don't think he should be able to get back out, there were 6 people in this house that he could've killed that day. The justice system is messed up," Kirk said.

Lt. Eppler said no one was hurt in the shooting. Kirk said she's not planning to move out of her home because of the incident.
