HUGO, OK -- A Choctaw County man is behind bars after police say he resisted arrest and assaulted a Hugo police officer.

Around 3:30 Sunday morning, police say parents of 25-year-old Matthew Baroody asked officers to do a welfare check on their son. When officers got the home Baroody told them to leave him alone.

Baroody then opened the door and attacked the officer. One officer was bit in the arm and another was kicked.

Baroody is charged with assault and battery on police officers, resisting arrest and obstruction.
