DENISON, TX - Hundreds of dogs enjoyed the 90-degree weather for a day of fun and games in Denison Saturday.
Downtown Denison hosted the first annual "Bark and Paws" inviting pet owners to enjoy Main street. Vendors lined Heritage Park, from pet grooming stations to pet adoption agencies.
They also had a parade, a tail wagging contest and a weenie dog race. Over 200 dogs took part. They also held a dog house auction, custom made by Denison residents.
Main street director, Donna Dow was impressed with the event's turnout.
"We've had a great time today, there were a lot of dogs out and some of them brought their owners with them, We had a lot of games, we did weenie dog races which was fun," she said.
All the proceeds from the Doghouse auction will go to the purchase of pet waste stations for Downtown Denison.
