McALESTER, Okla. (AP) - Authorities say an inmate was found dead at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester.

Prison officials say 43-year-old Mark Stacey was found unresponsive in his cell shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday. Officials tell the McAlester News-Capital that Stacey was pronounced dead at 7:20 p.m.

Warden's assistant Terry Crenshaw says Stacey's cause of death is unknown and will be determined by the state medical examiner. He says Stacey had no apparent trauma or wounds on his body.

Stacey was serving time for a drug conviction out of Oklahoma County. Authorities say he was scheduled to be released from custody in 2019 and had a parole hearing scheduled in June 2013.
