Jon Smith sworn in as new Johnston County sheriff

TISHOMINGO, OK - There is a new sheriff in town in Johnston county.

Jon Smith was sworn into office at the Johnston County courthouse Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Smith previously served as Johnston County sheriff from 1993 to 2004. Now he is taking over for former sheriff Tom Winkler.

Smith said it is an honor to be back in office and looks forward to serving the citizens of the county.

Smith's duties began immediately after he was sworn in.

Newly elected sheriffs were also sworn into office in Marshall and Murray counties Wednesday.
