Lamar Co. man sentenced for child sex crimes

LAMAR COUNTY, TX-- A Lamar County man is headed to prison for child sex crimes.

47-year-old William Smith, of Blossom, faced three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child from an incident in 2006.

The District Court Clerk's Office says Smith pled guilty on June 13th to a lesser charge of indecency with child sexual contact, with the remaining two counts dropped.

Judge Bill Harris handed Smith a 3-year sentence.

He was booked into the Lamar County Jail Friday and is awaiting transfer to a Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison.
