DURANT, OK -- The leader of the Choctaw Nation, Chief Gregory Pyle, is stepping down, and will be formally announcing his retirement Thursday.
Pyle served as assistant chief for 13 years and is finishing up a 17 year career as Chief.
According to a press release Monday, since Pyle took over as Chief the Choctaw nation has experienced economic, cultural and job growth.
Pyle plans on traveling and spending time with grandchildren.
The Choctaw Nation will hold a combined retirement and 65th birthday celebration Thursday.
