DURANT, OK-A local cadet receive a national award Thursday from the Civil Air Patrol.
Lt. Col. Miranda Ellinghaus was presented with the "Ira Eaker Award," she's the first cadet from Eaker Field to receive the honor. Capt. John Wyatt said it's the second highest award in the Civil Air Patrol. Each year, only 20 cadets in the U.S. are recognized with the award.
"Hardwork is invaluable and if you have a goal, go for it," said Ellinghaus.
Three other cadets also received awards Thursday, including Ellinghaus' brother, Richard, who received an award from the Air Force Association and the Amelia Earhart Award.
