Lone finalist selected in North Lamar ISD superintendent search

PARIS, TX-- Three months and 42 applications later, the North Lamar ISD school board has selected the lone finalist in their superintendent search.

The board selected John McCullough as the lone finalist for North Lamar's superintendent. The position became available after James Dawson announced he was retiring after holding the position for 26 years.

McCullough has spent the last two years as superintendent at Sulphur Bluff ISD. Board President Paul Drake says McCullough has what it takes to take North Lamar to the next level.

"We feel like this is a very exciting time for our school," said Drake. "The man coming in has big shoes to fill, but we feel like he will come in and do a good job and fill in nicely."

The board will have a vote to hire in 21 days. Drake has asked Assistant Superintendent Shelly McDowell to act as interim superintendent.
