Man arrested, officer injured in Lamar County pursuit

LAMAR COUNTY, TX -- A pursuit in Lamar County ended with a man behind bars and an officer injured.

Just after 2:00 Saturday afternoon Paris Police say they received a complaint that 45-year-old John Anderson was threatening people with a knife in the 200-block of Northeast 41st St.

Officers say when they attempted to make contact with Anderson he took off in his vehicle. Authorities say Anderson eventually lost control and crashed near County Road 15600 and FM 1498 and hit a Paris patrol car.

An officer received minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Anderson was taken into custody.

The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office assisted Paris Police in the pursuit.
