VAN ALSTYNE, TX -- A man is in dead after driving his pickup truck into a Van Alstyne home Tuesday.

Police say around noon Tuesday the driver was apparently headed westbound on FM 121 when he left the roadway traveling downhill, then hit a tree, a playground set and crashed into a house.

The driver was brought to Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ Hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Authorities say nobody inside the house was injured.

"This house is a long way off the road. You would never think a car would strike a house, but it just goes to show you anything can happen," Van Alstyne Police Sgt. Chuck Milner said.

Police are investigating the crash, and they believe a medical condition might be a factor.

The man's identity has not been released.
