TOM BEAN, TX -- A man was taken to a hospital Thursday morning, after his motorcycle collided with a police vehicle.
Whitewright authorities were assisting Tom Bean officers with a routine traffic stop at Highway 11 and Randolph Road in Tom Bean when 77-year-old Clarence Peavey ran into the back of a police suv. A witness told police, Peavey was traveling on the shoulder for sometime with before he hit the police unit, shattering the back window.
He was transported by ambulance with serious injuries to his head. He was not wearing a helmet.
DPS is taking over the investigation, which is standard protocol when a police unit is involved in an accident.
