VAN ALSTYNE, TX -- A man is being treated for non-life threatening injuries after he lost control of a stolen car while fleeing Van Alstyne police.

Police say they received a complaint that a man stole a parked car from a grocery store around 1:30 PM Thursday afternoon while the owner was inside the store.

Later Thursday afternoon, police located the vehicle and attempted to stop the man driving it.

The suspect didn't stop and a pursuit began.

He lost control of the car and crashed into a ditch along Cartwright Road and Hwy 121.

Police say he faces multiple offenses, some of them felonies.

Van Alstyne Police Chief Tim Barnes said, "It appears that he was intoxicated. So, in addition to the felonies he's looking at a misdemeanor of driving while intoxicated. "

The suspect was transported by ambulance for medical treatment.
