ARDMORE, OK -- The March of Dimes held their annual kick off in Ardmore.

The national organization raises money for research and programs that promote the health of babies.

In 2014 more than 7 million people across the country and right here in Texoma will walk to support the half a million babies born too soon each year.

In Ardmore the group's gearing up for their annual walk next month.

Board Chairman for the Arbuckles division Cathy Alexander says she is pleased with attention the community is giving to their mission this year.

Alexander said, "Our mission is to make sure that all babies are born healthy and happy. Right now, our focus is on pre-maturity. Pre-maturity is an epidemic in the united states and especially in Oklahoma."

The March for Babies is set for Saturday April 26th at Central Park in Ardmore. To sign up go to and search for a location near you.
