MARIETTA, OK - A special day at Marietta Elementary School when a fifth grader who's battling cancer got a monster surprise. Today, he got a visit from one of his big time heroes.
Bigfoot Monster Truck driver Kyle Doyle said, "I heard there is a guy named Max here that is a little bit of a monster truck fan. Is that you?"
Besides being an avid monster truck racing fan, Max Dewbre is also a cancer survivor.
11-year-old Max and his family thought their prayers had been answered when doctors recently told them Max was cancer free.
Then three weeks ago Max's sister was critically injured in a car accident in Gainesville.
Max's teachers thought a visit from one of his heroes might lift his spirits.
"I heard you are putting up a heck of a fight and I'm really proud of you," Doyle said. "I want you to keep fighting strong too that's the whole reason I brought Bigfoot here today. "
Doyle drives this 10 foot tall, 10,000 lb. Bigfoot and works with the group Monster Wish and Checkered Flag Productions.
When he found out about Max, and all he'd been through, Doyle was revved up to meet him.
"I'm gonna do you one better than just letting you look at it im going to show you how to get up in this thing," Doyle said.
Bigfoot will be in Ardmore for this weekend's Monster Truck Winter Nationals at the Hardy Murphy Colisuem.
As part of the deal, Max and his family get front row seats.
"He loves monster trucks, as most kids do," Doyle said. "It means a lot to take time out of our busy schedule and do these things."
Max's mom said Max has always had a passion for the large and loud trucks and jokes he even asked for one for his 16th birthday.
"How's the view up there Max," Doyle asked Max.
Max replied, "It was awesome!"
