Marshall County elects a new sheriff

MARSHALL COUNTY, OK - There is a new sheriff in Marshall County. Republican Ed Kent will succeed Bob Wilder as Marshall County Sheriff.

Kent is the first GOP candidate in Marshall County history to be elected to a county office.

He defeated current Marshall County Undersheriff Donny Raley 53% to 47% Tuesday night.

Kent is a veteran of Vietnam and the Korean War and he worked in the Marshall County Sheriff's Office from 1997 to 2009.

"I'm looking forward to working with the people again," Kent said. "I have been out for a couple of years. There are some good people there. We'll have a good time."

Kent will take office Jan. 1.
