Mead Cemetery on the road to progress

MEAD, OK -- A few weeks ago we told you how one Texoma cemetery has fallen into disrepair. Now the City of Mead has a plan to clean it up.

Mayor Chad Sanford says the city's already hired a landscaping company and crews are set to start work next month, but volunteers are getting started even earlier. They are hosting a cleanup over Memorial Day Weekend.

Community members say it is time to stop the criminal mischief that happens out at the cemetery and implement new security. Now that it is the city's responsibility they will use tax money and donations to restore the gate that has been torn down and put up lights to keep trespassers out.
